Nutrition is defined as "a process in animals and plants involving the intake of nutrient materials"No matter what it is, as long as it breathes and eats, it needs some form of nutrients. Every Organism does it different. We humans consume food then our bodies rid waste by ways of excretion. Other organisms like Fungi do not have an waste products. This is due to the fact that they digest their food on the outside of their body by releasing enzymes into decomposing matter and then absorb it like that.
Protist- Protist are able to puff themsleves up and engulf their food whole, very similar to how phagocytes do in. This is called endocythsis.
Annelid Worms Grab their food, and then are able to swallow it whole.
Insects Have to chase their food down and eat it. They then digest it, and the unusable material is expelled as waste.
Amphibians- Frogs for example, are able to get their food using their tongues, and then digest it in their stomach. FUN FACT, frogs are able to push their eyes back into their stomach to aid themselves into digesting it.
Mammals- Humans. Elephants, and platypuses are all mammals. then that means that we all must get our vital nutrients the same. You would be right! When we get our food, it goes through our digestion tract, starting from mouth and anything that cant be used gets eliminated as sweat, urine or feces.
Non-vascular Plants that have no roots have to great somehow right? Well these plants still have chloroplast and are able to convert CO2 into ATP and release oxygen as a bi product.
Gymnosperms- these plants (also referred to naked seed plants) are also able to undergo photosynthesis.
